Conducts technical collaboration by reviewing deliverables with peers and supervisors as questions arise and ensuring quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) procedures are performed on deliverables generated.
Position may include direct supervisory responsibility of staff to include hiring decisions, direction and delegation of work assignments, performance and evaluation, training and development, employee relations and disciplinary issues, compensation, and termination decisions.
Design and implement control systems for pumps, compressors, valves, and other equipment to optimize the operation of facilities.
Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines.
Develop I&C material requisitions, review bids, make technical recommendations, review of I&C packages, and review of vendor documentation.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, including site and project safety standards.
Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, looks for ways to improve and promote quality, applies feedback to improve performance, and monitors own work to ensure quality.
Responsible for the development of instrumentation engineering/design deliverables, including instrument index, instrument data sheets, instrument installation details, instrument location plans, wiring and loop diagrams, and panel drawings.
Mentor less experienced engineers by providing guidance, sharing industry knowledge, and offering feedback on technical deliverables.
Produces I&C engineering deliverables defined by the RACI (responsible, accountable, consulted and informed) in alignment with company standards and procedures.
Participates in department meetings and training, as required.
Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
Manage projects, including preparing cost estimates, proposals, budgets, resource allocation, and invoicing.
Lead the production of controls design deliverables, including I/O list, process control narratives, cause & effect diagrams, and manage third party control system suppliers to comply with the control system design requirements, including participating in factory acceptance tests (FAT).
Perform QA/QC on all department deliverables, including peer reviews, inter-departmental checks, and providing feedback via redlines and mentoring.
