The role joins a multi‑disciplined project team, applying and expanding expertise in electrical and controls design and computer‑aided drafting. Responsibilities include producing 2D and 3D drawings, creating scaled representations of proposed installations, assisting engineers during site walk‑downs, and developing design media for procurement of software, instrumentation, and control systems.
The Government Services Division supports DOE Environmental Management and the National Nuclear Security Administration, designing facilities and systems that treat, store, and dispose of nuclear waste and safely process nuclear material. This mission‑critical work contributes to environmental cleanup and the maintenance of the nation’s nuclear deterrent.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens eligible for a government security clearance, hold an associate’s degree in drafting or comparable experience, and possess at least ten years of experience converting engineer designs into technical drawings. Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation, experience in electrical/controls system design, and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Preferred qualifications include a CAD certification, BIM modeling with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, ProjectWise or SmartPlant document management, and knowledge of NFPA/NEC codes and medium‑low voltage distribution systems. These skills enhance the ability to produce detailed one‑line, loop, cable, and conduit diagrams.
Design work is performed in collaboration with other electrical designers and engineers on power distribution, lighting, and control system projects. The position also provides career growth through peer learning and participation in Sargent & Lundy’s “Communities of Practice.”

The total compensation for this position ranges from $74,750 to $115,120, with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. Sargent & Lundy discloses salary ranges in compliance with local and state regulations to ensure transparency.
