Project Geochemist

Description

• Perform geochemical studies, develop and guide investigations.
• Provide geochemical support to large multidisciplinary project teams throughout the US, focusing on the characterization and assessment of inorganic constituents in the environment.
• Have a significant role in developing expertise to position TRC as a leader in our industry.
• Collaboration with TRC staff and project teams, summarize technical findings, manage and analyze environmental data, contribute to conceptual site models, and assist in the planning and execution of geochemical field programs at remediation sites.
• Compile, reduce, analyze, visualize, manage, and report geochemical data, using data management software and tools such as PHREEQC and Geochemist’s Workbench.

Requirements

• Knowledge of geochemical principles that control groundwater chemistry relevant to coal combustion residuals (CCR) and heavy metals remediation is a plus.
• Experience with modeling using tools such as PHREEQC and Geochemist’s Workbench.
• Experience with data visualization tools and advanced analytical platforms.

• Strong interpersonal skills applicable to project team, regulatory agencies, and public in a dynamic and fast-moving environment. Possess strong verbal, written, presentation and excellent client management skills.
• Knowledge of geochemical principles that control groundwater chemistry relevant to inorganics.
• Must have extensive experience with presentations, document development and review, effective personal communications (oral, written, computer), and project leadership.
• 5-10 years of experience performing and managing environmental projects focused on metals and inorganics geochemistry.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
• Have a conceptual understanding of fate and transport mechanism for inorganic constituents in the environment.
• Proven knowledge in analytical techniques and forensic assessment related to metals geochemistry is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Geology/Geochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Hydrogeology, or related fields.
• Advanced degree (MSc. or PhD) in relevant science or engineering discipline is preferred.
