This role is based across Yarraville and Southbank, offers flexible hybrid working arrangements, and involves travel to regional sites to oversee project delivery, engage with field teams, and ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.
As the Senior Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of large-scale projects and programs across the gas distribution network. This includes managing major network alterations, augmentations, infrastructure upgrades, and large customer requests. Your work will play a critical part in maintaining network performance today and into the future.
The Gas Operations & Delivery Team ensures the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of AusNet’s regulated gas network, supporting customers, communities, and stakeholders as we transition to a sustainable energy future.
- Management of contracts, requisitions, orders and invoices associated with projects.
- Manage, track and report on the progress of assigned projects from handover through to commissioning/completion
- Assist in the management of AusNet Services gas materials quality assurance program including: investigation of field faults, assessment of new materials.
- Development of project execution plans
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards & Regulatory Framework.
- Plan and Deliver of the gas networks projects within the allocated budgets in a timely, efficient and effective manner
- Negotiate contracts & access arrangements; liaise with regulators (ESV, DEECA, landholders).
- Oversee scheduling , cost control, risk, quality assurance, and safety.
- Roll out of the gas competency guidelines in line with current requirements to ensure Delivery Partners are in compliance.

- Experience in managing contractors and vendors within project delivery, including commercial negotiations and contract administration.
- Advanced commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement (external in particular)
- Strong project management experience; apply processes and principles to initiate, plan, manage and delivery a project within project constraints (to scope, time and budget)
- Good understanding of regulatory models and new technologies to identify the appropriate solution(s) to address needs of the network and customers
- Tertiary qualification in relevant field
- License requirements: Victorian Drivers License
- Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
- Professional qualification or certification from related professional body (e.g. WCC – Practitionership in Commercial & Contract Management) is an advantage
- Demonstrated program management experience, preferably in the gas industry
