The Damage Prevention Specialist will perform damage prevention duties for Foothills Energy Services within the Poudre Valley Electrical Association footprint, covering over 2,000 square miles across Larimer, Weld, and Boulder Counties in northern Colorado. The role supports both overhead and underground utilities and collaborates with foremen, contractors, and facility owners to ensure safe excavation practices.
- Maintain daily contact with overhead and underground foremen and general foremen.
- Submit locate requests via 811 web ticket for all work orders promptly.
- Keep indefinite copies of all locate requests.
- Ensure foremen have the appropriate locate request before excavation.
- Verify positive response for all locate requests.
- Provide standby information for high‑profile facilities as needed.
- Conduct pre‑excavation inspections to confirm areas are pre‑marked.
- Perform spot checks of locate marks and assist facility owners/locators.
- Locate privately owned facilities and developer‑owned assets on all job sites.
- Submit damage notifications to 811 and investigate damages per Common Ground Alliance guidelines.
- Coordinate with third‑party contractors to locate privately‑owned sewer services.
- Assist damage prevention (south) in the Mountain View Electrical Association area as needed.
- Attend monthly Weld and Larimer County damage‑prevention council meetings.

This position is field‑based and requires extensive physical activity, including bending, squatting, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in inclement weather. - Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum: At least 3 years locating experience.
- Minimum: Clean driving record.
- Preferred: 5+ years locating experience.
- Preferred: Permit processing experience.
- Preferred: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and macros.
- Preferred: CDL Class A driver’s license.
