Transport Manager

Description

• Coordinate with customers, vendors, facilities, and suppliers to address transportation needs and resolve shipment-related issues.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training efforts to build and maintain a skilled and high-performing workforce
• Prioritize Health and Safety by adhering to all organizational safety policies, procedures, and best practices, and consistently maintaining safe work behaviors.
• Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions and safety protocols as needed.
• Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures aimed at improving operational efficiency, safety, and service quality.
• Supervise, mentor, and support transportation staff, including drivers and logistics team members.
• Monitor and manage transportation budgets and costs to maximize efficiency and reduce overall expenses.
• Oversee daily transportation operations, including route scheduling, shipment tracking, and ensuring timely delivery of goods.
• Ensure full compliance with local, provincial, and federal transportation and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members.
• A willingness to take direction and work effectively in stressful situations.
• Proven knowledge of business and management principles, strategic planning and leadership techniques.
• Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety and a Safety-focused attitude.
• Dispatch experience is required.
• Previous truck driving experience is considered a strong asset.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to new working environments.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Experience in managing multiple job tasks and people.
• Excellent ability to listen, analyze and adapt to ever changing situations and schedule changes to meet the requirements of GFL customers.
• Strong customer relationship management with both internal and external clients.
