  • Develop and cultivate relationships and offer solutions to key, identified end user customers to drive sell through at Ames stores and all other distribution partners, including e-commerce.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive activity within the assigned territory

  • Maintain knowledge of all Ames products and services
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships at every level of the organization; invest in building relationships with the Field Operations and Field Support Center team members.
  • Drive incremental revenue for Ames Tool Corporation through frequent and consistent communication and presentation of solutions for distribution partners and end users. Must have a thorough understanding of the sales process and demonstrate a strong ability to create and close sales opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of construction trends within the assigned territory
  • Identify and contact potential new customers within the assigned territory using outbound telephone calls, e-mail, chat and videoconference to sell all Ames Tools Corporation products.
  • Maintain CRM customer database and all related activities with the CRM customer database
  • Meet or exceed sales targets and goals
  • Quickly create and build relationships with customers. Maintain the appropriate contact frequency with customers to support the identified opportunities. Build internal alliances across Sales, Stores, Marketing, Customer Service and Operations.
  • Will frequently move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
  • Establish new distribution partners including Drywall Yards, Building Material Dealers, STAFDA dealers and independent tool dealers.

  • Proficiency in the use of desktop applications and Windows-based programs (Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Ability to understand how to profitably grow a business; the relationship between driving revenue and building a profitable business. Includes ability to create financial presentations, read financial reports and interpret the most impactful opportunities.
  • Experience assessing, identifying, measuring and monitoring customer or business needs to make decisions and take appropriate actions
  • Must be able to problem solve and prioritize tasks.
  • Proven experience in sales
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred or 3 – 5 years’ experience as Inside or Outside Sales Representative responsible for Business-to-Business sales; preferably in construction or a construction related field
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of sound judgement and initiative.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as departmental report and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondences, create internal and external presentations, and other related communication to customers and internal personnel. Build positive communication paths across the organization.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 80% of the time.
  • Up to 50%-70% travel required.
