Tensile Estimation Engineer

Description

The Tensile Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, material take-offs, and technical evaluations for tensile structure projects. The role involves analyzing drawings, specifications, and client requirements to support bidding, budgeting, and project planning while ensuring technical and commercial feasibility.

• Assist in budget control and cost tracking during project execution
• Perform material take-offs for membranes, cables, steel structures, fittings, and hardware
• Coordinate with design, engineering, procurement, and project teams to validate assumptions
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for tensile membrane structures, including materials, fabrication, installation, and accessories
• Analyze tender documents, BOQs, RFQs, and technical specifications
• May require occasional site visits or client meetings
• Maintain an updated database of material rates, labor costs, and suppliers
• Study architectural, structural, and shop drawings to identify scope and quantities
• Prepare technical and commercial bid submissions
• Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations and conduct cost comparisons

Requirements

• Familiarity with project management and cost control practices
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and estimation tools
• Office-based with coordination across design and site teams
• Good analytical and numerical skills
• Strong understanding of tensile membrane systems (PVC, PTFE, ETFE, cables, fittings)
• 2–5 years of experience in tensile structures, steel structures, or façade estimation
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
• Experience with international tendering
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Knowledge of fabrication and installation processes for tensile structures
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
