Applications Engineer

Description

• Design and specify chemical injection units, hydraulic power units, process systems, utility packages, pressure vessels, and structural skid frames.
• Create process flow diagrams, P&IDs, hydraulic schematics, equipment layouts, and fabrication drawings with the design team.
• Size and select instrumentation, control valves, positive displacement pumps, and perform system calculations.
• Perform mechanical design, material selection, assembly, testing, and validation for packaged equipment and modules.
• Procure or contract parts from vendors and coordinate deliveries.
• Document and communicate project plans, costs, and tasks to team members and supervisors.
• Conduct CAD-based structural analysis (FEA) on skids per offshore standards (DNV & API).
• Develop product specifications and select raw materials/components according to customer and industry standards.
• Review P&IDs, layout, and fabrication drawings for skid package creation.
• Provide technical support to production during build and commissioning.
• Interact with customers and vendors, and create user manuals.
• Test skid packages and equipment with shop personnel and customers to validate designs.
• Conduct design reviews and communicate project requirements and deliverables to customers.
• Troubleshoot equipment during assembly and testing with technicians.
• Multitask across multiple project phases, balancing time to meet schedules.
• Review and markup structural, piping, and P&ID drawings, testing procedures, and operation manuals.
• Apply offshore equipment design standards (DNV 2.7-1/3, API RP 2A, AISC) and industry codes (API 520, ASME B31.3, ISO 10628/14617, API 505, NEC, ATEX, IECEX).

Requirements

The company is looking for a technically skilled, detail-oriented Application Engineer to support the design, specification, and quotation process for custom-engineered equipment such as skid packages, chemical injection units, and high-pressure vessel systems. The role serves as a bridge between sales, engineering, and manufacturing, ensuring customer requirements are accurately translated into reliable, cost-effective solutions.

The position requires at least five years of experience with skid-mounted equipment in a manufacturing environment, a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Industrial Engineering, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting. Physical demands include prolonged desk work and occasional lifting of up to 15 lb.

• Apply knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pressure, and flow dynamics.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain high organization and efficiency, proficient in Microsoft Office.
• 5+ years experience with skid-mounted equipment; Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Industrial Engineering.
