Working closely with operational teams, the scientist will apply scientific expertise to monitor water quality from source to tap, using both onsite investigations and data analysis to maintain wholesome water for customers. The position also involves responding to incidents, providing scientific advice, and supporting out‑of‑hours standby processes across the region.
- Review water quality standards regularly to support excellent output from treatment works.
- Conduct proactive onsite interventions and data analysis to detect early performance deteriorations.
- Identify and investigate source‑to‑tap water quality risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation and abstraction management.
- Develop and continuously improve water quality risk assessments and action plans.
- Perform comprehensive onsite investigations triggered by proactive or preventative alerts.
- Deliver the company's Drinking Water Safety Planning approach.
- Act as primary contact for local operations teams regarding water quality risk assessments.
- Lead short‑ and medium‑term strategies to reduce water quality risks.
- Participate in out‑of‑hours standby support across the region.
- Provide scientific advice on Regulation 31.
