Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Identify wetland and sensitive environmental areas for protection in advance of construction activities.
Develop and update environmental plans.
Monitor, forecast and communicate environmental costs at the project level.
Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings avoiding and minimizing adverse effects to the natural environment and local communities.
Function as a principal technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues.
Prepare project and Kiewit required reports and communication of environmental risks to project management.
Lead the environmental compliance for a project
Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels.
Identify, assess and reduce environmental risks to the company.
Coordinate with relevant crews on their work locations, material needs, quantities and invoices.
Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring (water, air, noise, vibration, soils).
Liaise with the clients; providing them design information, schedule details, quantities etc. ensuring they are aware of any unanticipated discoveries, critical permitting and compliance issues.
Liaise with environmental agencies and attend field visits with client and regulatory agencies.
Maintain project data tracking requirements.
Review requirements and prepare proposals and estimates for new contracts.
Participate in project audits (both internal and external).
Identify, document, report and develop corrective actions for environmental incidents.
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

10-15 years' experience managing design and construction environmental compliance for large construction projects.
Qualified Environmental Professional designation is preferred.
Superior interpersonal skills.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with specialist disciplines, plans, and permitting
Regular, reliable attendance
Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
Excellent organization abilities and time management skills.
Effective and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Highly motivated and self-managed to get things done right the first time.
Experience liaising with other specialty consultants, contractors and governmental authorities
Undergraduate degree in an environmental science or engineering field, or related.
Experience coordinating a multi-disciplinary team
Knowledge of soil and water contaminants
Strong work ethic and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
Work productively and meet deadlines timely
Knowledge of and experience with Ontario’s Transit Project Assessment Process, GO Transit Class EA Document, and Environmental Assessment Act (Ontario)
Experience with linear infrastructure projects in Southern Ontario, including experience in environmental compliance duties on transit projects in Ontario
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
Pipeline inspection experience highly desirable.
Knowledge of and experience with relevant federal and Ontario environmental policies, procedures and legislation
