You will be supporting colleagues in Engineering, Fabrication Design and Project Management in the delivery of mass timber projects.

  • Develop and contribute to the group's technical expertise, improve drafting resources and procedures, mentor junior team members
  • Prepare and review technical submittals to include BIM models, design submittals, shop drawings, etc.
  • Estimate BIM Coordination needs for projects within an established timeline, reviewing and coordinating as necessary
  • Lead communication with Fabrication Designers and collaborate with Mercer Mass Timber group. Engage with external consultants as part of the Project Delivery team
  • Work in and develop a team of Specialist Mass Timber Drafters, focused on a DfMA design approach applied to Mass Timber

Reporting directly to the BIM Team Lead, the BIM Coordinator is a key position in the Mercer Mass Timber project execution team. As a self-motivated individual, you have efficient communication skills and enjoy being a team player focused on attention to detail. You are comfortable and able to work well in a deadline-oriented environment, including the ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines.

  • A degree in Architectural Technology, CAD Technology, Structural Engineering, or a related field would be advantageous.
  • At least 2 years experience as BIM Coordinator or Lead Drafter.
  • Experience in 4D for site logistics and just-in-time delivery planning (e.g., Navisworks) is considered an asset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in parametric design (Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, Python, etc.) is considered an asset.
  • Experience in the DfMA process applied to mass timber projects, including CAD/CAM fabrication software packages is considered an asset.
  • Experience in the Coordination for fabrication of Mass Timber projects in the North American and/or European markets is considered an asset.
  • Be passionate about design automation and parametric design/modelling
  • Experience in production and interpretation of structural drawings, i.e., evidence that has worked on projects and produced structural drawings.
  • Proven experience in Revit, BIM360 and Cadwork.

  • The salary for this position is $80,000 - $105,000. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
