The officer will audit and assess the quality, safety and regulatory compliance of gas‑related works, heating, hot‑water, water‑pump systems, Heat Interface Units and Heat Stores performed by in‑house engineers and external contractors. They will ensure adherence to the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, British Standards, WRAS guidelines and Riverside’s internal policies, while working closely with third‑party auditors to protect the DLO’s Gas Safe registration.
- Conduct audits of gas, heating, hot‑water, HIU, Heat Store and water‑pump installations and servicing.
- Verify compliance with Gas Safety Regulations 1998, British Standards, WRAS and Riverside policies.
- Liaise with third‑party auditors, prepare documentation and implement audit recommendations.
- Assess and monitor contractor performance against service level agreements and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver technical training, toolbox talks and guidance to engineers and contractors.
- Produce and maintain detailed audit reports, compliance records and trend analyses.
- Investigate gas‑related complaints and ensure timely remedial actions.
- Participate in an out‑of‑hours rota for emergency repairs and maintenance.

The ideal candidate is a Gas Safe Registered Engineer with extensive experience in compliance auditing and holds both domestic and commercial ACS qualifications such as CCN1, CENWAT, G3 and COCN1. They must have an NVQ Level 2/3 in plumbing and heating (or equivalent), a solid understanding of relevant regulations and standards, strong analytical and communication skills, and a full UK driving licence.
- Essential: Gas Safe Registered Engineer with compliance audit experience.
- Essential: Domestic ACS qualifications (CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, CPA1, G3, WRAS) and Commercial ACS qualifications (COCN1, CODNCO1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1/TPCP1A).
- Essential: NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent (BPEC/LCL).
- Essential: Knowledge of Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations, British Standards, Heat Network Regulations and WRAS.
- Essential: Strong report‑writing, analytical, communication and organisational skills.
- Desirable: Experience in social‑housing DLO/contractor environments and health & safety qualifications (IOSH/SMSTS/SSSTS).
- Desirable: Electrical qualifications (Essential Electrics/Part P) and Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation.
