The Student Project Officer will assist in delivering strategic projects in line with Council’s values of customer focus, innovation, teamwork, and integrity. This 21‑hour per week, 2‑year term role is targeted at university or TAFE students in their final or penultimate year of a relevant course.
Ideal candidates have a background in environmental science, city resilience, climate‑change risk, natural‑environment management or related fields, though applicants from diverse disciplines are welcome. They should be enthusiastic, driven, proactive, and able to work independently with internal and external stakeholders.
The successful applicant will demonstrate an innovative approach to problem‑solving, solid project‑management skills, experience working in multidisciplinary teams, a strong academic record, and a genuine desire to help shape Parramatta’s future.
Applicants must be enrolled in the final or second‑final year of a university, TAFE or equivalent programme related to strategy, the built environment, policy development or similar studies.
Candidates must be Australian or New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, or hold unlimited working rights in Australia; certain visas with work rights may be considered.
The position offers a 2‑year term contract with a pro‑rated salary starting at $73,172.60 plus 12 % superannuation.
