We’re looking for ambitious, mission-driven individuals who are excited to work hard alongside their colleagues to build and deploy world-leading technology that tackles some of the planet’s most urgent infrastructure challenges.

We’re seeking an experienced Software Engineer (iOS) to join our Software Team, focusing on the design and development of our front-end control application for robotic platforms on iPadOS.

This app is the primary interface between human operators and our field robots — managing control, telemetry, and camera systems — and demands exceptional UI/UX design, responsiveness, and robust real-time communication via gRPC and MQTT.

  • Experience of testing methodologies, including unit-testing
  • Experience with gRPC, in particular gRPC-Swift 2.0
  • Experience and competence in C, modern C++
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems.
  • MQTT-NIO framework
  • General Unix/Linux shell-scripting
  • Understanding of asynchronous programming, network communication, and data handling on iOS.
  • Strong attention to detail in design, usability, and performance.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Agile development methodology
  • Experience of object-oriented design and knowledge of common design patterns (including MVC, MVVM, GoF etc)
  • Familiarity with UIKit and Objective-C interoperability.
  • Experience in developing applications using both UIKit and SwiftUI frameworks.
  • Experience developing MacOS dtools or companion apps (Cocoa, AppKit)
  • Experience integrating networked systems, ideally with gRPC-Swift or MQTT-NIO.
  • Apple CoreData
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with software, electronics, and robotics engineers.
  • High level of competency in Swift, SwiftUI and Objective-C.
  • Demonstrated experience building iOS and iPadOS appas with modern UI/UX principles.
  • Apple Swift-NIO and associated network frameworks
Benefits
  • Competitive salary, and flexible work options
  • Collaborative, innovation-driven team with exciting career growth opportunities.

Series A Funding
secured Series A funding to scale its coating-and-robotics platform globally.
+30% Capacity
Line Capacity Uprating
technology boosts overhead line capacity and reduces power loss, noise, and corrosion.
-90% Costs
Upgrade Costs Slashed
slashes upgrade costs through innovative photonic nanocoatings application.
  • Founded from PhD research at Manchester in 2016, AssetCool spun out of university innovation.
  • The firm develops photonic nanocoatings and deploys them via its CapacityN robots to uprate overhead lines.
  • Built by a multidisciplinary team (physics, chemistry, robotics, software), it's merging materials and automation.
  • Positioned to become a full‑stack grid upgrade provider — coating, application, data‑driven performance validation.

95% cost reduction
Capacity Upgrading Savings
Field-proven technology reduces capacity-upgrading costs by up to 95% compared to traditional reconductoring methods.
£10 million Series A
Funding Secured
Raised £10 million in Series A funding to scale deployment globally and accelerate sustainability impact.
  • Uses passive radiative cooling coatings to reduce overhead line temperatures and electrical resistance, thereby cutting power losses and carbon emissions
  • Coating increases conductor ampacity—enabling higher capacity without rebuilding lines—leading to CAPEX and long‑term OPEX savings
  • Robotic application platform (CapacityN) enables scalable in‑situ deployment across hundreds of kilometres of power lines
