Mechanical Supervisor

Description

• Responsible with the QSHE team for the upkeep, monitoring, assessment and reviewing of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work/ Permit to Work systems.
• Be an essential part of the site/regional management of a team who will ensure the safe operation and repair of all Mechanical and Gas equipment inc. compressors and boiler equipment on the site.
• Manage employees within a service environment and maximise the performance of your team.
• Ensure, Gas, pressure systems and L8 compliance.
• Responsibility for ensuring compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and site-specific health, safety and welfare policies.
• Undertake employee Appraisals/ Performance Reviews including the identification of training and development needs.
• Co-ordinate labour (direct and sub-contractor) to ensure delivery of the Planned and Reactive Maintenance Service within a defined region, to include management of available resource in periods of sickness and holiday.
• Undertake periodic reviews and arrange forthcoming planned maintenance and project activity and ensure adequate labour resources with the correct skillset are in place to support operations at all locations within a defined region.
• Undertake routine and ad-hoc audits of both planned and reactive works to ensure high standard. of compliance and quality
• Undertake the collection and provision of data related to all estate maintenance operations.
• Undertake training and appointment as a AP in appropriate disciplines.
• Maintain formal and informal communications with Client staff members related to service levels and issues.
• Monitor site performance of sub-contractors.
• Manage the On-call rota, team absence and annual leave.
• Provide technical and professional support to the Maintenance team and to the Client in order to develop a “team” approach.

Requirements

IMPORTANT: SUBJECT TO SC CLEARANCE

• HND or NVQ or equivalent in a relevant subject matter
• Fully aware of relevant Health and Safety and general legislative matters.
• Driving licence Full and valid UK driving licence
• Preferably 10 years (minimum of 5 years) experience in building services and plant engineering, five years as a maintenance craftsman preferably within an engineering role.
• Excellent communications both written and verbal.
• Remain flexible with the ability to work under pressure.
• Previous appointment as Authorised Person for one or more of the following disciplines: Confined Spaces, Pressure Systems, PTE.
• Good communication and IT skills, with the ability to complete documentation accurately.
• Computer literate.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• NEBOSH / IOSH Managing Safety
• Although predominantly a ‘hands off' role, the individual will require a very high level of knowledge of building services systems and will be able to both undertake planned and reactive repairs works when necessary and lead their team from a technical perspective by actual demonstration of personal technical ability when required.
• Proven experience in commercial or industrial maintenance.
