Key responsibilities include preparing permit applications and securing approvals, overseeing construction bidding, scheduling, cost estimating, and contract administration, and negotiating property easements, surveys, and legal recordings. The engineer will also manage project financials—work orders, purchase orders, invoicing—and conduct due diligence for potential acquisitions while supporting other departmental tasks as needed.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and be a Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois or obtain the PE license within three years. Preferred qualifications include at least two years of water and wastewater experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software, strong written and verbal communication, customer service skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
The position involves sedentary work with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds and may require travel to sites throughout Illinois.
