Overview

Operate/setup CNC lathes and mills, inspect parts, ensure quality & safety.

Tasks

-Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers or fixtures -1st piece inspection (check first piece/pieces per blueprints and BOMs) -Observes operation of machine and verifies conformity of machined work piece to specifications -Perform quality checks to ensure quality specifications are meant. -Setup, layout and operate various CNC lathes and/or mills -Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications and tool instructions -Perform quality checks to ensure quality specifications are met -Set up and Operate 3 and 5 axis CNC milling centers and CNC lathes -Discusses errors in diagrams or production order with supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly problems. -Selects, positions, and secures tool in tool holder -Work within all safety guidelines and wear all required PPE -Moves controls to position tool and work piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds and depth of cut -Follows visual aids (standard work) to ensure work is correct -Meet efficiency rates -Performs any assembly-type functions, using hand or power tools -Keeps work area clean and orderly -Make up cartons, print labels, insert protective packing material, seal finishing product -Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition - 5S -Adjusts, trim and fitting parts to close tolerances
