Scientific Customer Support II

Description

The role reports to the Technical Support Manager on the Applied Science Team and requires on‑site presence in Bellevue, WA. It serves as the primary technical contact for domestic and international customers, handling inquiries about instrument use, troubleshooting, applications, maintenance, and best practices.

• Answer incoming calls professionally.
• Respond to support requests via email or web form.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic instrument issues.
• Diagnose and resolve software and data problems.
• Use scientific software to plot, process, and evaluate data.
• Document inquiries, quality concerns, warranty issues, and feedback.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships with timely solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues and improve support.
• Participate in process‑improvement initiatives.
• Continuously develop in‑depth product and application knowledge.
• Deliver technical training in person and remotely.
• Assist in creating written and multimedia training materials.
• Provide feedback to product managers, sales, and engineers.
• Support R&D and science‑related projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of customer service or technical support experience.
• Experience with oceanographic instrumentation or research cruises preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; basic Windows networking knowledge.
• Familiarity with integrated systems, PLCs, or industrial applications a plus.
• Strong communication, technical documentation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to analyze measurements, convert units, and apply basic statistics.
• Multilingual abilities (e.g., Mandarin) are a plus.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem‑solving, and curiosity‑driven mindset.
