You will play a key leadership role in advancing architectural design excellence within multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring compliance with regional agency standards, codes, and best practices for complex, public-facing infrastructure.
This position offers the opportunity to lead our region’s growth for the design of impactful public infrastructure - including stations, maintenance facilities, administrative and operations buildings, and other key transit support structures across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.
- Conduct and oversee QA/QC reviews of architectural design deliverables.
- Business development to support our region’s planning and design efforts of transit and rail facilities, including passenger stations, support buildings, and yard/maintenance facilities.
- Participate in client meetings, public presentations, and stakeholder engagement processes.
- Coordinate with structural, MEP, and civil disciplines, and work closely with project managers, engineers, and client representatives throughout all project phases.
- Oversee production from conceptual design through construction documents and construction administration.
- Interpret and apply WMATA, MDOT MTA, and VRE design standards, building codes, and client requirements.
- Manage subconsultants and internal design teams, ensuring coordinated, timely, and technically robust deliverables.

TYLin is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Architect to lead the planning and design of rail and transit facilities across the Mid-Atlantic, serving agencies such as WMATA, VRE, MDOT MTA, and Amtrak.
- Proven experience working with agencies such as WMATA, VRE, MDOT MTA, or Amtrak on projects including stations, operations centers, or maintenance facilities.
- Minimum 15 years of architectural experience, with a strong focus on transit, rail, or transportation infrastructure.
- LEED accreditation or strong interest in sustainable infrastructure design.
- Strong knowledge of regional building codes, ADA, NFPA, and relevant WMATA or state agency design criteria.
- Registered Architect (RA) or AIA professional membership in DC, Maryland, or Virginia (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
- Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills.
- Experience with federally funded infrastructure or Design-Build project delivery.
- Familiarity with NEPA, FTA, or FRA project requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate, and mentor project teams in a collaborative environment.
