In this role you will own the assigned control system functions and interfaces, guiding a small team of engineers to meet high technical and quality standards while collaborating with a worldwide engineering community. You will support the full product lifecycle and have opportunities to travel up to 10% between Rolls‑Royce sites and another 10% elsewhere.
Key duties include developing electrical, electronics, and mechatronics control system requirements, creating design and verification deliverables for safety‑critical applications, and establishing best‑in‑class technical standards. You will also provide process guidance and training, review engineering work products for completeness and quality, and translate complex technical concepts into clear documentation.
Candidates must embody Rolls‑Royce’s core principles and hold either a bachelor’s degree with at least five years of product development experience, a master’s degree with three years, or a PhD in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering, and must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred experience includes agile development, military qualification of airborne systems, gas‑turbine or propulsion control knowledge, and proficiency with control system design tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and SysML modeling software like Cameo Systems Modeler. Demonstrated ability to work with model‑based systems and robust design techniques is also valued.
