- Manages multiple projects, coordinating with other experts and supporting as needed to produce to client reports promptly.
- Field investigations: study and determine the cause and origin of construction defects or structural failures and/or damage, building envelope failures and/or damage, as well as determine the extent and repairability of such failures and/or damage.
- Prepare reports to document the causes of failure and/or damage.
- Follows safety procedures
- Performs the investigation and analysis of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters.
- Conducts forensic engineering investigations of buildings and other structures for a wide variety of problems including structural damage, roof damage, moisture intrusion, interior water damage (plumbing and other causes), settlement and other foundation problems, construction defects, general building material failures, and of course, all types of storm related damage.

- Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk and hear. Body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Valid US Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)
- Ability to travel 30% of the time
- Ability to climb ladders, climb/walk on roofs, in crawl spaces, and other areas of structures to be inspected
- Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical reports or journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Must have a high level of ability in technical writing & analytical skills. Works requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Experience in all common types of forensic engineering investigations is preferred, especially water damage. Being able to pinpoint the cause and origin of water damage and establish duration is extremely important.
- Lifting and/or moving up to 35 pounds regularly is expected, on occasion, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Experience with Vantage Point
- A minimum of 1 year of Forensic Structural Engineering experience is required.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the state of employment, or the ability to obtain this within 6 months.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Preferred at least 2 years of related experience.
