The DBE works on a Security & Installations/Infrastructure office, translating business and IT requirements into robust data architectures. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing relational and object‑oriented databases, as well as creating ad‑hoc queries, scripts, and macros to deliver usable data assets from inception through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability.
Core duties involve providing technical expertise for database design and information storage, developing database parsers and loading tools, projecting long‑range administration needs, and making trade‑offs among data volume, user count, distribution, response times, retention, security, and domain controls. The engineer also automates GIS workflows, integrates GIS with enterprise systems, and employs cloud‑based storage and ODBC technologies.
Candidates must hold an active TS/SCI clearance and either a bachelor’s degree with ten or more years of relevant experience or a master’s degree with nine or more years. Required expertise includes GIS data handling (vector/raster), strong ArcGIS Enterprise skills, RDBMS experience (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL), Python scripting, JavaScript for web development, spatial SQL optimization, geospatial data modeling, BIM integration, and familiarity with Agile principles and strong communication abilities.
