Description

The apprentice will perform mechanical duties on heavy trucks, keep daily work reports, and coordinate equipment downtime with their supervisor, while also handling any additional tasks as assigned.

• Perform general mechanical work on heavy trucks, including hydraulics, air brakes, component replacements, and maintenance
• Complete daily work reports detailing tasks completed and pending
• Notify supervisor of equipment shutdown dates, times, and durations
• Execute additional tasks as directed by immediate supervisor
• Work a permanent full‑time schedule (Monday‑Friday, 15:30‑00:00)
• Participate in an employer‑contributed collective RRSP

Requirements

Matrec, a division of GFL, is looking for a full‑time apprentice heavy‑vehicle mechanic to join its team in Laval. The permanent evening shift runs from 15:30 to midnight, Monday through Friday, at 4365 boul. St‑Elzéar O. GFL operates across North America in waste collection, recycling, and organic material processing.

• Hold a DEP in heavy‑vehicle, construction‑equipment, or agricultural mechanics
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
• Possess a P.E.P. (Preventive Maintenance Program) card (preferred)
