In this exciting role, you’ll be instrumental in crafting and influencing energy strategies, regulatory frameworks, and market mechanisms that support the shift towards sustainable gas solutions. Whether it’s hydrogen, biomethane, or hybrid heating systems, your insights will help position Cadent as a leading voice in the energy sector, driving forward-thinking solutions that meet the challenges of tomorrow.

You’ll combine strategic foresight with rigorous economic modelling and policy analysis to guide Cadent’s transition planning. Working closely with internal teams and engaging with key external stakeholders, including government departments, regulators, and industry leaders. You’ll deliver evidence-based recommendations that shape the future of the UK’s gas distribution network.

  • Thought Leadership – Develop scenarios, models, and policy responses that position Cadent as a credible voice in the energy transition.
  • Cross-Sector Collaboration – Work closely with Regulatory, External Affairs, and regional teams to deliver impactful outcomes.
  • Analytical Excellence – Apply economic appraisal techniques and build robust models to evaluate policy options and transition pathways.
  • Strategic Influence – Help define Cadent’s future energy strategy and support the UK’s transition to net zero.
  • Policy Engagement – Lead responses to Government consultations and maintain Cadent’s policy needs register.

  • Skills – Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to influence strategically and think creatively.
  • Commercial Awareness – Deep understanding of the financial and economic impacts of energy policy and incentives.
  • Qualifications – Degree level or equivalent experience (essential). Preferably in Business, Finance, or Economics.
  • Experience – Strong understanding of UK energy markets and regulated networks. Proven experience in economic modelling and policy analysis.
