Building Technology Systems - Senior Consultant

Description

Staff work on high‑profile local, national, and international projects, participating throughout the entire project cycle from design to construction close‑out. Engineers act as subject‑matter experts, effectively communicating technical topics with owners, architects, other engineers, contractors, and vendors, while enjoying strong growth opportunities within the firm.

• Design telecommunications, security, audiovisual, and code‑required communication systems.
• Gather and document client system and design requirements.
• Create design narratives and coordinated construction documents (drawings and CSI specifications).
• Manage project budgets and fee responsibilities.
• Allocate and supervise technical and drawing staff to meet deliverables.
• Coordinate, host, and participate in project meetings with design teams and clients.
• Review and respond to technology system submittals and RFIs during construction.
• Conduct site surveys to document construction progress.
• Integrate security and telecommunications systems with BMS, lighting control, AV, etc.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, IBC, NFPA, BICSI, EIA/TIA codes and industry standards.
• Assist in business development, proposal preparation, and fee estimation under lead supervision.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical training/experience.
• Possess 5–7 years of experience designing high‑end security and telecommunications systems for the AEC consulting industry or managing their installation and programming.
• Experience with new construction and renovation projects of various sizes.
• Knowledge of DAS, data networks, Wi‑Fi, and telephony is a plus.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting designs to clients.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Revit experience desired.
• Comfortable working directly with architects and building owners.
• Industry certifications (ASIS CPP, BICSI RCDD, AVIXA CTS‑D, Cisco CCNA) are advantageous but not required.

The expected salary range for this role is $103,000 to $142,000, with adjustments based on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
