A key part of the role will be providing regular reports that demonstrate compliance with regulatory obligations, guaranteed service standards, and key performance indicators, while also forecasting adoption timelines and ensuring reporting is aligned to business needs. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape how wastewater assets move from adoption through to long-term management, helping to maintain operational excellence and deliver confidence to stakeholders.

We’re looking for a Wastewater Adoptions Manager to take ownership of the adoption process for wastewater assets, ensuring they meet the highest industry standards. In this role, you will establish, monitor, and refine processes so that adoptions are carried out in full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and company requirements. You will lead on inspections, oversee the identification and resolution of defects, and ensure each asset is handed over to the Asset Management Team with the information required to support effective ongoing management.

  • Integrate new assets into company GIS, maintenance and asset management systems.
  • Authorise final certification of asset adoption, ensuring readiness for operational takeover.
  • Assess new and innovative materials or ideas and implement and offer as a solution on site providing it does not compromise our position.
  • Oversee site inspections during construction, ensuring compliance with approved designs, safety standards, and environmental conditions.
  • Liaise with other water companies on new and proposed inset sites and discuss bulk discharge agreements.
  • Monitor any new additions to legislation and policies and implement / apply them correctly into LNWL.
  • Work closely and liaise with BDM's, assess the drainage proposals and offer assistance where required to help win new business.
  • Develop policies and processes for adoption and ongoing maintenance of sites.
  • Review, approve, and monitor adoption applications, designs, and agreements.
  • Lead technical assurance of testing, commissioning, and performance validation for assets (sewers, pumping stations, rising mains, SuDS features, wastewater treatment elements).
  • Advise on engineering solutions with the developers when any complicated installations arise.
  • Attend meetings with BDM's and Developers to help the promotion of Leep.
  • Provide information on all sites to enable accurate inset applications to be made.
  • Liaise closely with ground workers and site agents, whilst risk assessing all situations on site so as not to compromise Health & Safety.
  • Ensure all adoption agreements include adequate bonds, guarantees, commuted sums, and warranties to protect long-term interests where required.
  • Act as the single point of contact for developers, contractors, consultants.
  • Help the wider Water Team on other water related activities as and when required.

  • You will have comprehensive expertise in wastewater systems and sewerage design.
  • You will be able to demonstrate project management and governance capabilities.
  • You will have the ability to interpret and apply legal agreements, such as Section 104.
  • You will have a strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including Ofwat, EA, Defra, DCG, and SuDS.
  • You will show excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • You will be proficient in computer applications and technical reporting.
  • You will have proven experience in engineering assurance, inspection, and technical review of wastewater infrastructure.
