The Hospital Facility Maintenance Technician works in a busy hospital setting, performing scheduled preventative maintenance and addressing unscheduled demand maintenance events. The role involves handling work orders in the QFM Computerized Maintenance Management System and collaborating with the operations team while also working independently.
Key duties include responding to and rectifying tasks across general facility services such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry, sourcing and organizing tools and materials, and using building prints and schematics to troubleshoot system failures. All work must follow established safety procedures and company policies, with additional duties as required.
Candidates must have a two‑year technical degree or equivalent and at least two years of facility maintenance experience, or comparable qualifications. Required skills include knowledge of building systems, strong verbal and written communication, ability to work both independently and within a team, and proficiency with computers and the Microsoft Office suite. Physical capability to lift up to 50 lb, climb ladders, operate machinery, and flexibility for rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays are essential.
Preferred assets include experience in a healthcare environment, education in Building Environment Systems I & II, familiarity with life‑safety systems, a valid plumbing trade license, and experience repairing wheeled equipment. Compensation is $36.04 per hour, with an additional $5 per hour for those holding a trade licence, and benefits are provided through a local labor‑union collective bargaining agreement.
