  • Act as the main point of contact for client HSSE teams and regulators.
  • Represent the company at client forums and industry groups.
  • Lead audits, regulator visits, and certification processes (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Ensure full compliance with HSE legislation (e.g., CDM 2015) and industry standards.
  • Deliver training and coaching to operational teams.
  • Provide visible leadership across all project sites.
  • Coach and support senior leaders and project managers to embed safety into every stage of delivery.
  • Identify trends and innovations to enhance HSSE performance.
  • Oversee risk management for high-risk activities (e.g., confined spaces, lifting, excavation).
  • Monitor performance through audits, inspections, and data analysis.
  • Champion behavioural safety and cultural change initiatives like It Starts With Me.
  • Maintain and improve policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
  • Lead investigations and ensure lessons learned are embedded.
  • Develop and implement the contract HSSE plan aligned with company and client objectives.
  • Lead divisional and group-wide initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor HSSE Advisors, supporting their professional growth.
  • Support the integration of digital tools for reporting and analysis.
  • Prepare and present HSSE performance reports to directors and clients.

  • IEMA Certificate/Diploma in Environmental Management
  • Commercial awareness and strategic thinking
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards)
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (or working towards)
  • Recognised incident investigation training (e.g., TOPSET, TapRoot)
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Experience with digital safety tools and Microsoft 365
  • Proven experience in a similar HSSE leadership role within construction, utilities, or infrastructure
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication and data analysis skills
