Supports the Labour Relations team with any and all labour relation matters, researching background information, including grievance administration, data collection, trend analysis and analytics.
Act as the point person for all union reporting obligations.
Aids in the preparation of exhibits, legal submissions, evidence, briefs etc. for arbitration and labour board proceedings.
Chairs and participates in joint labour meetings between the union and management.
Act as a gatekeeper of all grievances, manages the grievance database and inventory of all labour relations projects.
Research and responds to queries and concerns from union business representatives and union executive members.
Provides analysis and necessary preparation for collective bargaining.
First point of contact regarding labour relations inquiries from the union.
Establishes and maintains constructive communication and effective working relationships with the HR Business Partners, Management and union representatives.
Assist in providing collective agreement interpretation and legislative overview along with general support to the business as required.

Strong computer skills required in Microsoft Office Suite, especially excel.
A University degree is required, or specialized equivalent with a focus on labour relations and labour law.
Strong problem solver with attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with Labour Relations and Human Resources team.
Ability to interpret and implement collective agreement language.
Able to administer Step 1 grievances with the union.
Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code and other workplace legislation.
Strong organizational & interpersonal skills.
2-3 years' experience working in labour relations / labour law / human resources in a unionized environment.
Ability to work under pressure and manage tight timelines and expectations.
Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
