The Apprentice, Tower Performance role focuses on daily construction duties to ensure quality and expedited commercial deployment of services, reporting to the Superintendent or Foreman. The position involves supporting tower construction, antenna and line installation, and maintaining safety on job sites.
SBA expects apprentices to read site plans and tower drawings, organize tools and materials, analyze labor and material needs with supervisors, and complete work efficiently. Overtime, weekend, and evening hours may be required, and successful completion of SBA’s Tower U training is mandatory.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (preferred), less than one year of tower construction or climbing experience (or 0‑2 years general labor), knowledge of standard knots, and the physical ability to climb up to 500 feet. Candidates must be willing to travel domestically up to 90% of the time, may need to operate a commercial motor vehicle, and must hold a valid government‑issued driver’s license.
The role demands standing for 90% of the day, lifting up to 75 lb, stooping, bending, reaching, and working in remote outdoor locations with exposure to weather, loud noise, electrical hazards, and high places.
