An Industrial Pipe Fitter assembles, lays out, installs, and maintains pipe systems for steam, fluid, or gas, including components such as pipe, flanges, supports, valves, gauges, hangers, and angles. Work occurs in various environments, including buildings, outdoors, tanks, boilers, underground excavations, and at heights up to 300 ft.
Key duties include reading blueprints and specifications to determine material needs, identifying required tools, assessing safety risks, fabricating and installing pipe and components to specifications, performing quality tests on piping systems, and using rigging equipment to hoist loads.
The position has no direct reports but may occasionally oversee helpers and laborers, exercising positional and expertise authority over those roles.
Candidates need at least four years of experience as an Industrial Pipe Fitter or helper, the ability to read prints, thorough knowledge of pipe‑fitting procedures, strong leadership and communication skills, and experience on industrial construction projects.
Applicants must demonstrate a proven industrial construction/maintenance background, ability to read prints, construction drawings, and technical manuals, knowledge of pipe‑fitting processes for combined‑cycle power plant boilers, strong problem‑solving ability, manual dexterity, good reading comprehension, teamwork and independent work capability, effective communication, and a commitment to company values and safety regulations.
Preferred candidates are Zachry ROF’ed or former employees, hold NCCER certification as an Industrial Pipe Fitter, and possess formal technical education.
