Climb steel towers to install, maintain, test, repair and dismantle overhead line plant and equipment safely at height, solving problems in an organised and practical way.
Safely operating plant and equipment such as winches, Telehandlers and MEWPs.
Work in accordance with safe practices and procedures, carry out risk assessments including checking the structures to be climbed and the working conditions while working at height.
Drive vehicles equipped with tools and materials to remote job sites.

You’ll be working towards a Level 3 Power Industry Overhead Lines Person qualification
By the end of your first year, you’ll need a driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK.
You’ll need to be able to live away from home during your training; primarily at our Eakring Training Centre in Nottinghamshire. Typically, you’ll stay on-site from Monday to Thursday and return home for the weekend (Friday to Sunday). The amount of time spent at Eakring will decrease as you progress through the programme:
Due to the nature of this role, applicants for this position must be at least 18 years of age by the start date of the programme (1st September 2026)
Our Advanced Apprenticeships are for people who have five GCSEs, including passes in Maths and English Language graded 4/C or above.
