Perform engineering calculations such AC and DC load calculations required to properly size auxiliary systems.
Attend job site meetings to gather scope of work.
Perform engineering calculations such as conduit and bus sizing, lighting & lightning analysis, and grounding grid analysis.
Leads substation P&C and/or physical design, including the preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and estimates.
Communicate and coordinate project activities with project manager, client, and others as needed.
Utilize client and/or company information system to track and update design activities.
Ensure all designs conform to our client’s and industry standards.
Prepare computer assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with neatness and a minimum of errors.
May provide field support during construction.
Performs careful QA/QC review activities submitted by junior engineers to ensure a quality product.

Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
The ability to sit/ stand for up to 8 hours per day.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET approved college or university.
Experience with substation design and construction standards for electric utilities in California is highly desirable.
Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
Professional Engineer’s License in Electrical Engineering preferred but not required.
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
9+ years of experience working in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.
