Account Manager

Description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting and statutory reporting activities within Etihad Rail Mobility. The role ensures the integrity of financial records, sound balance sheet management, and strong cash flow control. While day-to-day transactional accounting and AP are managed by Shared Services, the Accounting Manager maintains full ownership of financial reporting accuracy, reconciliations, and compliance. The position supervises one Accountant and works closely with Shared Services and the FP&A Manager to ensure alignment between actuals, budgets, and forecasts.

• Act as the primary liaison with Shared Services for AP, AR, payroll, and GL activities.
• Validate financial data received from Shared Services and ensure accuracy before reporting.
• Own and maintain all balance sheet accounts, ensuring reconciliations are completed and reviewed monthly.
• Ensure proper provisioning for liabilities and resolution of aged or unallocated balances.
• Oversee the PO process to ensure purchase requests are properly coded.
• Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and provisions prepared internally or by Shared Services.
• Supervise and mentor one direct report, ensuring quality, accuracy, and professional growth.
• Support the Head of Finance in managing treasury activities and funding transfers.
• Manage fixed assets, lease accounting, and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare and submit statutory financial statements and audit deliverables.
• Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and ensure balance sheet integrity.
• Monitor cash flow and liquidity to ensure sufficient funds for operational and capital needs.
• Work with Shared Services and Procurement to resolve mismatches and ensure compliance with approval workflows.
• Monitor service levels and escalate issues or control gaps as required.
• Coordinate with auditors and ensure compliance with internal control and governance requirements.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting under IFRS.
• Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts and variance analyses.
• Ensure GRN (Goods Received Note) procedures are adhered to and matched with supplier invoices before payment.
• Monitor open POs and accruals to ensure timely closure and accurate expense recognition.
• Work collaboratively with the FP&A Manager to ensure clear handover between accounting actuals and planning data.
• Oversee bank reconciliations, payment scheduling, and intercompany settlements.

Requirements

• Experience within transportation, infrastructure, or service industries is preferred.
• Understanding of procure-to-pay and GRN processes
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and financial reporting standards.
• Attention to detail and analytical ability
• Strong technical accounting and IFRS knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Professional certification, such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or CMA, is required.
• 6-8 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
