Key responsibilities include managing structural project teams to execute design, produce implementation documents, and oversee construction administration, including post‑occupancy evaluation and lessons learned. The manager acts as the primary client contact, communicates critical issues, and coordinates technical discussions across disciplines. They ensure design solutions meet project goals, budgets, schedules, and code requirements, conduct site visits, and maintain quality control of calculations and documents. Delegation, review of engineering work, and team accountability are also central to the role.
The role is a licensed engineer in a managerial position responsible for ensuring project success. It involves leading multiple project teams through all development phases while demonstrating strong leadership, communication, and client relationship skills. Candidates must hold an accredited degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering with at least nine years of experience and possess a professional engineering or structural licensure (preferred). Desired qualifications include sustainable design accreditation, proficiency with Revit/BIM, project management tools, and the MS Office suite. Advanced knowledge of integrated design, building systems, QA/QC processes, and building codes is required, along with strong communication, problem‑solving, and collaborative leadership abilities.
The position offers a base salary range of $117,000 to $146,000 for Chicago‑based hires, with adjustments based on location, experience, and other factors.
