Construction Project Manager - Columbus

Description

The role of Construction Project Manager provides overall administrative and technical direction, enforces company and project policies, and serves as the main client interface to ensure projects are built to design, budget, and schedule through the project engineers.

• Lead in construction excellence and safety.
• Lead traditional renovation, new build, or multiple small projects of varying size and value.
• Serve as primary contact for clients, architects, engineers, and regulatory agencies.
• Deliver superior customer service internally and externally.
• Identify and resolve project challenges to minimize delays and cost overruns.
• Manage safety and risk, ensuring 100 % safe field activities.
• Supervise 1–3 junior staff, fostering learning and development.
• Create and maintain detailed construction schedules.
• Prepare accurate subcontractor scope documents to mitigate risk.
• Manage project documentation including RFIs, change orders, and progress reports.
• Review subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and related contracts.
• Oversee project financials and negotiate change orders.
• Handle $3‑$8 million renovation or new‑build projects with senior leadership support.
• Assist preconstruction team in purchasing, buyout, or estimating for $3‑$10 million projects.

Requirements

• 4‑year degree in a related field and at least ten years of relevant experience.
• Completed OSHA 10‑hour training.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and team‑building skills.
• Proficiency with scheduling techniques and related software.
• Working knowledge of MS Office and industry‑specific programs.
• Deep understanding of construction safety and project insurance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation abilities.
• Experience in preconstruction or estimating.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire‑suppression, and HVAC systems.
• Healthcare, workplace, or retail construction experience is a plus.
