You’re agile, keen and open to meaningful work and opportunities that come your way. Reporting to the Executive Director Internal Audit, you will be an integral part of the Internal Audit team. In this role you will be responsible for leading and managing the Internal Audit team to develop, manage, and deliver the internal audit work and functional strategy and plan.
You will partner with the business to develop a deep understanding of business risk and commercial drivers and outcomes to deliver a strategically focused internal audit program. You will provide assurance to the Secretary, relevant Chief Executives and the Transport Portfolio Audit and Risk Committee about business processes, the effectiveness of risk management, financial and operational integrity, and compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
Key areas of focus include developing risk‑based internal audit programs for Transport for NSW, Sydney Trains, NSW TrainLink, Transport Asset Manager of NSW and NSW Motorways, as well as cross‑agency audits aligned to organisational priorities and whole‑of‑government initiatives. You will manage program delivery, lead a high‑performing audit team, coordinate external service providers, and source outsourced capability within budget and timeframes. Continuous improvement of audit methodologies, building trusted stakeholder relationships, and acting as a thought leader on emerging trends are also essential responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is an authentic leader and experienced audit professional with a proven record of managing teams, setting objectives, measuring performance and achieving corporate goals. Experience in infrastructure, transport, government or essential services, appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience, and membership of the IIA or a recognised professional body are required. The role also demands experience advising executive teams across multiple functions and building and motivating high‑achieving teams.
