Structural Fitter

Description

• Produce high-quality assemblies aligned with specifications.
• Inspect finished work and make necessary adjustments.
• Works under general supervision and uses independent judgment.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with teammates to meet production goals.
• Contributes to continuous improvement and lean practices.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Follow all safety guidelines and shop rules.
• Identify and resolve fitting issues during fabrication.
• Perform layout and fit-up of metal components per drawings and cut lists.
• Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy and hazardous areas.
• All employees are accountable for safety and health and are empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present. Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the hazard may be corrected.
• Works under direct supervision with structured responsibilities.

Requirements

• Ability to mentor and support Fitter 1s.
• 1 year of industry experience.
• Ability to conceptualize and design intermediate fixtures.
• Pass welding tests: 3G/FCAW, 1G/GMAW-MC, and 3G/GMAW-SC.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic fixtures.
• Ability to read and interpret advanced blueprints.
• Ability to read process sheets, cut lists, tolerances, and basic prints.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on routine tasks.
• Ability to fully fit beams, columns, and miscellaneous metals.
• Ability to fit complex components such as curved rails, stairs, and canopies.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and math skills.
• Supervisory experience overseeing up to 5 Fitters.
• Minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
• Intermediate math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documents.
• Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces and/or other adverse locations
• Lift, move, and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
• Intermediate math including some geometry and trigonometry.
• Minimum of 7 years of industry experience.
• All Fitter 2 qualifications plus:
• Read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Awards: Whether in Construction, Manufacturing, Fabrication, or Service, RK Industries is highly recognized and accredited throughout the industry: Accreditations & Recognition
• Performs highly technical work with minimal supervision.
• Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch.
