The Maintenance Technician role is responsible for the upkeep, servicing, and repair of roads and related infrastructure assets, following contractual standards and supervisor direction. Core duties include managing traffic control, operating heavy‑duty vehicles, and performing painting and high‑pressure washing tasks on structures such as sound walls, bridges, and tunnels. The position may also support seasonal equipment operations for winter or summer projects as needed.
Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, with regular exposure to traffic, noise, chemicals, and occasional heights or confined spaces. Physical demands include standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds, while using pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools. Employees must wear appropriate PPE, pass respirator fit tests, and be prepared for 24/7 on‑call availability, including holidays, nights, weekends, and third‑shift work.
Applicants need at least a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license with a clean record, and basic experience in infrastructure maintenance, painting, or power washing. Required certifications include Advanced MOT Certification, with CDL and DOT credentials considered highly desirable. Basic familiarity with smartphone technology is preferred, and the role offers opportunities for further skill development.
