Under basic supervision, the Facilities Engineer assists project engineers, foremen, and superintendents with a variety of engineering, construction, and maintenance projects to ensure the Philadelphia Housing Authority (“PHA”) is receiving the greatest return on investment in quality, durability, efficiency, accessibility, and value. Manages material inventories, material ordering, service order analysis, scheduling, and time entry. Provides technical assistance with other engineering, construction, and maintenance issues.
- Purchases supplies, equipment, and technical services at the best cost, in a timely manner, and in compliance with state and federal rules and regulations and PHA standards.
- Assists with Capital Needs Assessments, including maintenance plans, site inspections, funding schedules, and design review.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers, officials, contractors, vendors and representatives from other local, state and federal agencies.
- Assists project engineers, foremen, and superintendents with a variety of engineering, construction, and maintenance projects to ensure PHA is receiving the greatest return on investment in quality, durability, efficiency, accessibility, and value; performs work within scope of authority; duties may vary according to job assignment.
- Assists with the inspection of project work sites; verifies project activities are in compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Interacting with people of different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Schedules and coordinates inspections; generates service orders and allocates resource for preventive maintenance inspections.
- Work is performed in a standard office environment and on work sites.
- Assists with project management; identifies problems and technical issues, and recommends solutions; tracks service orders, and recommends purchasing and contractor solutions.

- Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized engineering software.

Salary: $46,660 - $55,500 annually.
