The role involves working on engineering projects for new nuclear facilities as well as upgrades and modifications to existing nuclear power plants, applying your knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
As a member of an engineering and design team you will prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, support designers with drawing development, and help guide others in creating engineering deliverables.
Using state‑of‑the‑art computer tools you will perform structural analysis of safety‑related structures under various loading conditions, including seismic and impactive/impulsive loading.
The position may require travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
Essential qualifications include an MS in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET‑accredited program, at least five years of experience on project teams designing and analyzing structures, proficiency with structural analysis software, and strong written and verbal communication skills. A Ph.D., experience with power‑plant or industrial structures, on‑site construction support, and a PE or SE license are valued but not required.
