Supply Chain Intern

Description

• Coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure material requirements are met
• Research and qualify vendors and suppliers based on cost, quality, and lead times
• Help maintain and update procurement records in ERP systems such as Spectrum and Procore
• Support the negotiation of pricing and terms with suppliers
• Participate in Book Club assignments to build leadership and communication skills
• Assist in inventory control processes to optimize stock levels and reduce waste
• Assist in sourcing materials, tools, and equipment for active electrical construction projects
• Contribute to a LEAN project focused on improving procurement or supply chain processes, presenting findings to senior leadership at the end of the internship
• Track and manage purchase orders, delivery schedules, and backorders to ensure timely delivery

Requirements

The A-C Electric Company Internship Experience Program provides a hands-on, structured learning experience for students interested in procurement, supply chain management, and logistics within the electrical construction industry.

Desired Majors: Supply Chain Management, Procurement & Contract Management, Business Administration (with an operations or logistics focus), Operations Management, or Business with a quantitative focus

• We are looking for students who are passionate about engineering and the construction industry.
• We’re looking for students who have shown solid academic performance — at least a 3.0 GPA in upper-division courses for your major, or a 2.75 GPA overall.
• We are looking for humble and hungry, agile students who have a drive for results, a desire to learn, and who can quickly build relationships.
• Skill Development: Training in procurement systems, inventory management, and cost analysis
• Ability to work full-time for 10 weeks during Summer 2026
• Strong technical experiences as demonstrated through technical projects, research, or engineering internships.
• Exceptional organizational and collaboration skills as demonstrated through leadership positions on teams and/or in student or civic organizations.
• Must be able to relocate to Bakersfield, CA for the entirety of the internship.
• Real-World Experience: Exposure to procurement and supply chain operations in the construction industry
• Enrolled student attending a college or university with an expected graduation on or before August 2027
• Exceptional communication skills, interest, and enthusiasm related to electrical engineering and/or construction.

Benefits

During this 10-week program, you will work closely with our purchasing and project management teams to learn how we source, manage, and deliver critical materials and equipment for large-scale construction projects. You’ll gain real-world experience in vendor negotiations, inventory management, cost control, and supply chain optimization, all while building professional skills through mentorship and networking opportunities.

Pay range: Pay Range: $16.00/hr. - $22.00/hr. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
