The M/E Engineer 2 role supports routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities while collecting data, developing estimates, and contributing to system and bid analysis. The position follows directions, refers exceptions to a supervisor, and offers a clear career path to M/E Engineer 3.
Core responsibilities include learning and participating in the company’s safety and quality programs, completing entry‑level M/E construction tasks, and using automated estimating tools to develop budgetary estimates. The engineer assists in reviewing mechanical and electrical options, developing scopes of work, performing bid analysis, creating sequencing plans, and identifying constructability issues. Additional duties involve job inspections, shop‑drawing/submittal compliance, and supporting the commissioning process through checklists and functional testing.
Additional responsibilities require generating and executing commissioning plans, independently interacting with project teams, and presenting work product to clients in a professional manner. The engineer leads mechanical/electrical coordination, develops system schedules, conducts site inspections and constructability reviews, and may represent the firm in job pursuit presentations. Budgetary estimates, pre‑construction reviews, and sequencing solutions are also provided for assigned projects.
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience, along with at least two years of construction or engineering experience. Required skills include accurate and timely work performance, intermediate verbal and written communication, proficiency in MS Office and JE Dunn’s M/E tools, and the ability to read plans and collaborate across teams.
