Safety Specialist I or II

Description

Safety Specialists collaborate with field staff, clients, subcontractors, and managers throughout all phases of electric construction. They ensure adherence to safety policies, procedures, and regulations while building professional relationships. The role is location‑based, covering worksites across the assigned project area and involves travel.

Core duties include conducting site safety observations, creating and reviewing site‑specific safety plans, participating in project kickoff and progress meetings, and aligning client‑specific safety programs with company and regulatory requirements. The specialist also coaches personnel, performs PPE and behavior‑based assessments, coordinates required trainings, investigates incidents, manages corrective actions, and supports safety committees.

• Perform ongoing site safety observations and document conditions.
• Develop and coordinate site‑specific safety plans with Operations.
• Lead safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and risk‑recognition sessions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations.
• Coach and mentor field personnel on safety practices.
• Conduct PPE hazard assessments and behavior‑based observations.
• Schedule and facilitate training (new‑hire orientation, OSHA ETD, customer‑required, post‑incident).
• Investigate accidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and oversee corrective actions.
• Support incident case management and documentation for Operations.
• Assist safety committees in analyzing performance trends and improving processes.
• Maintain regular attendance and adhere to the Code of Business Conduct.

Requirements

Candidates must have at least two years of EHS experience, a high school diploma (or GED), and preferably a safety certification such as CSHO, CHST, SMS, SSH, or CSP; a degree in Safety Management is a plus. Required skills include problem‑solving, strong communication, knowledge of OSHA and electric construction practices, and proficiency with MS Office; the role demands independent work and travel to job sites.

• Knowledge of electric construction project management practices.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to travel for extended site visits and work independently.
