  • Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables and recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
  • Work on energized circuits and equipment with company management approval following all OSHA, Lockout/Tag Out and RELCO Safety Procedures and Protocols.
  • Report to project leader/management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous and if any problems are identified.
  • Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electrical or gas powered).
  • Perform system maintenance and backups on all related voice equipment.
  • Adhere to state and local building regulations.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software, cabling, wiring and cross connects and interact with vendors for technical resources to voice and data problems.
  • Install relays racks, cabinets and network switches.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by observing and following all safety standards and procedures complying with OSHA, NFPA 70E and RELCO standards.
  • Work in restricted areas (switchgear room, crawlspaces, attics, manholes, utility tunnels), confined space, trenches, high elevations using appropriate safety equipment for prolonged periods of time.
  • Establishes communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment.
  • Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; and identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.

  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to operate and knowledge of hand tools and power tools, measuring devices, and testing equipment to accomplish designated tasks.
  • Ability to work from all types of ladders, scaffolds, ariel lifts and roofs for prolonged periods of time and transporting tools, various load wire reels ascending and descending to move about the jobsite and work area.
  • Ability to follow directions, decipher, communicate, and exchange technical information.
  • Have own tools
  • Ability to effectively interact, cooperate, collaborate, and manage conflicts with others to complete tasks and achieve shared goals.
  • Current and Valid Driver’s License in good standing
  • Must be able to distinguish color to positively identify and inspect color-coded wiring and possess good vision (normal or corrected).
  • Strong communication skills in English; including comprehending, listening, writing and the ability to exchange information.
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to read, interpret and analyze blueprints, construction plans, schematic drawings.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Extensive knowledge of telecom/data systems and wiring.
  • Experience with Category 5e and 6, Fiber Optics, CATV and CCTV systems.
