The role involves setting up and operating cell manufacturing and test equipment to produce the final product, inspecting parts for quality, and performing standard work using process control methods. The employee also conducts routine preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, reads and interprets all process documents, follows detailed procedures, and maintains applicable records. Additionally, they assist in training new associates, communicate production issues to the Production Team Leader or other team members, and interface with purchasing, engineering, and customer service as needed. Flexibility is required to work in various capacities such as molding, machine operation, assembly, potting, washing, painting, inspecting, and other assigned duties.
The successful candidate must be able to perform each essential duty once fully trained, including reading and interpreting diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports to determine material requirements. They select, align, and secure tooling and accessories on machines, enter appropriate settings, calibrate equipment, and record production and operational data. Quality checks are performed using measuring instruments, and the employee rotates through all tasks required in the production process while maintaining an orderly, safe, and clean workplace. Participation in cell meetings and events is also expected.
Key personal characteristics include problem‑solving ability, attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, and reliability. The individual works well both independently and as a team member, demonstrating cooperation and dependability.
A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and a background in industrial assembly is advantageous though not required, provided the candidate has a verifiable work history. Knowledge of gauging processes is considered a plus.
The role requires the ability to read and interpret business periodicals, safety rules, quality instructions, process documentation, and technical manuals, as well as to write routine reports and productivity charts. Basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, and proportions are applied to practical situations, and reasoning ability is needed to identify and address potential problems.
Physical demands include continuous standing, walking, reaching, grasping, and assembling objects, with the ability to lift and move up to 35 lb regularly and up to 50 lb occasionally. The job requires frequent forward bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and specific vision abilities such as near, distance, color, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment. The work environment is a manufacturing setting with moderate noise levels.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage; spending accounts (HSA, Health Care FSA, Dependent Care FSA); paid time off and holidays; a 401k retirement plan with matching employer contributions; life and AD&D insurance; paid leaves; and tuition assistance.
