Designs internal controls to ensure meter installations are completed according to both technical standards and business procedures for new account establishment.
Performs complex technical analyses and calculations to support metering and communication technologies, especially for our largest customers, generation sites, and retail open access customers.
Recommends engineering technical meter standards for all classes of electric customers of NV Energy to ensure timely and accurate measurement of energy flowing into and out of company power systems. This includes a broad range of meters from the more common residential meter to complex meters used in customer installations of distributed generation, on Independent Power Producers selling to the company, and retail open access meters requiring real-time communications to multiple parties.
Implements all policy, process, system, and procedural changes to ensure changes are implemented as designed and that the proper internal controls and documentation are in place.
Designs programs to ensure adequate meter maintenance to ensure timely and accurate measurement of all energy flowing into and out of company power systems.
Participates in the recommendation of appropriate technology in the bidding, evaluation, and contracting processes for the purchase of all types of meters used at NV Energy.
Recommends standards for installing meters on all new residential, commercial and industrial customer accounts, and assists staff in installing meters on all new large residential, medium and large commercial and industrial customer accounts at NV Energy.
Researches and recommends highest priority, cost-effective changes in metering technology and meter tracking systems.
Recommends resources and appropriate organizational structure need to accomplish all Electric Meter Operations functions according to standards and achieves metrics targets at least possible cost, including timely installation of new meters and adequate development and implementation of technical meter specifications and standards.
Oversees the technical aspects of meter testing and repair of all type meters to maintain accuracy and extend the service life of meter assets wherever reasonable.
Provides education as needed to ensure employees possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs successfully.
Develops positive relationships based on trust and technical accuracy with customers and their representatives to enable proper equipment selection, resolve difficult issues and provide timely service establishment
Coordinates with regional operation hub employees to quickly resolve customer issues and provide timely service establishment.
Performs site inspections and meetings in support of Meter Services or other company employees to determine and resolve issues that occur when improper equipment is delivered or installed in the field.

Good leadership and communication skills are essential to articulate objectives and methods to the mostly Bargaining Unit employees.
Position requires some limited travel to the other operating company for cross-training and consultations.
Requires travel to the SPPC outlying regional district operations in Elko on an approximately quarterly basis.
In-depth technical expertise is required to prioritize and accomplish multiple priorities, make effective decisions in accordance with company policies and regulations, and to ensure that quality and accuracy are maintained within the organization.
Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills are vital.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in engineering and 5 years utility industry experience as a practicing engineer. Professional Engineer license preferred.
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective relationships that recognize the needs of very diverse customers and employees.
