Perform technical evaluations of non-certified equipment according to specified code (or in combination with other applicable requirements). Ensures product meets technical requirements and is free of potential for fire and shock hazards. Decisions are based on field evaluations and testing under the Field Evaluation program. Technically competent to evaluate all products, including new and unique products, with assistance of other technical staff as necessary.
Conduct research on technical and procedural issues, including: technical research on standards, Field Evaluation Guidelines. Collaborates with Engineering, Lab and colleagues with respect to procedural issues, interpretation and past practices.
Communicate with clients in a professional manner to schedule inspection appointments, review costing procedures, answer questions, and provide technical information service and direction based on the scope of the Field Evaluation program. Reviews submitted technical drawings for evaluation.
Document, with sufficient detail, technical reports for required alterations to sub-standard equipment. Reviews details of corrective action with client.

Ability to use calibrated measurement instruments, high voltage test equipment, hand tools.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and test data.
Electrician; or related technical field.
Good command in English language skill written and oral.
Engineering Technology or Associates Degree; or
Knowledge of:
Ability to manage multiple inspection files and changing schedules and deadlines with supervision.
Certification / Lab Testing experience preferred.
NEC, NFPA and UL standards
Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, as well as general laboratory procedures.
Strong conflict resolution skills to be able to handle difficult situations.
Ability to travel as needed and/or with short notice (up to 75% travel)
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related Sciences; or
Strong interpersonal skills; self-starter; good decision-making skills and organizational skills.
Technically competent to evaluate all products, including new and unique products, with assistance of other technical staff as necessary.
U.S. and Canadian based electrical standards and ability to apply these standards to local installation requirements and/or codes (eg. NEC, CEC, NFPA 790 & 791, SPE-1000, and SPE-3000)
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
