Associate Building Performance Engineer/Consultant responsible for leading analytical needs of projects related to energy code, high-performance analysis, renewable energy studies, district scale modeling, and predictive energy modeling. Also responsible for Job Leader responsibilities including technical quality, timely delivery, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
Experience in quantifying and graphically reporting of energy conservation measures
Knowledge of daylight modeling or CFD analysis
Experience with ASHRAE 90.1 compliance energy modeling and ASHRAE/IBPSA Standard 209
Advanced understanding of building physics and the ability to teach concepts to varying degrees
BA or BS degree required, architectural or engineering degree preferred
Extensive experience with energy modeling inputs, including model geometry creation and HVAC system modeling with IES Virtual Environment
Ability to understand client goals and communicate analysis results with architects
Knowledge of energy audits and energy benchmarking of buildings
Experience in visual scripting interfaces such as Grasshopper and Dynamo, and environmental Rhino plugins such as Honeybee, Ladybug, etc.
An ability to apply analytical skills across a range of scale (Buildings, Campus, Cities)
Experience with sustainability rating systems used in the industry
Experience in presenting analytical information in a clear and concise manner
Experience of modeling uncommonly designed mechanical systems
7+ years of experience in a professional, fast-paced environment within the AEC Industry
Extensive experience with Title 24, Part 6 code requirements and IESVE/CBECC-Com/EnergyPro compliance modeling and prescriptive documentation
Experience with EnergyPlus/OpenStudio or other whole building energy modeling software
Excellent problem-solving, research, and analytical skills
Strong communication and organization skills
Completion of LEED energy model submittals
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Genuine inner drive to automate workflows and develop energy modeling tools
Creative thinking, high attention to detail, and appreciation of good design
Experience in the analysis of renewable energy technologies such as geothermal and photovoltaics
Experience of modeling commonly designed mechanical systems
Experience with parametric modeling and working with large datasets
Ability to operate independently, organize resources, and deliver to timelines
Strong proficiency with mechanical room and system thermal loads modeling and knowledge of mechanical system design
BEMP, PE, LEED AP preferred
An ability to use a variety of tools beyond common software to analyze complex problems
Experience with project management including successfully managing the technical quality of deliverables, schedule, internal coordination, and financial performance associated with project analytics scope
